Oregon Closed Razor Clamming Coastwide. What Does That Mean for Washington?

Separate beaches. Separate testing. Check the tests and the official opening before you travel.

UPDATED OCTOBER 5, 2026

Oregon closed razor-clam harvesting coastwide October 2 after recent samples exceeded the state’s 20 ppm domoic-acid safety threshold. The joint ODA and ODFW announcement includes Clatsop Beach.

Does Oregon’s closure mean Washington is closed?

No. Washington independently tests its beaches and makes its own opening decisions. Oregon’s closure does not automatically close Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis or Mocrocks.

That also does not mean a Washington dig is confirmed. Proposed dates remain subject to required marine-toxin testing and final WDFW approval.
